Associate Partner

The following organisations are associated partners of the research group "Loss of the Night". They are not involved in subprojects, but instead support the research with their specialist knowledge, legwork and pictures.


Dark Sky - Initiative against light pollution

The Initiative Dark Sky is an expert group of the association 'Vereinigung der Sternenfreunde'. 'Vereinigung der Sternenfreunde' is the largest supra-regional association of amateur astronomers in German-speaking areas that regularly reports on astronomical events and news from the scene. The expert group Dark Sky wants to clear up the light pollution problem and tries to give advices on how to use artificial light ecologically friendly without missing out on comfort and safety.

Leader of the expert group is Dr. Andreas Hänel.

University of Kassel - Department of English literature
As part of the research association "loss of the night" the department of English literature examines how "light" and "darkness" are perceived in the literature and how society experience artificial lighting.
