Conferences about Light Pollution

ALAN - Artificial Light at Night

The research network Loss of the Night has launched the conference series ALAN. The first time it took place in 2013 in Berlin. Until 2016the conference was conducted annually, then biennially. The venues were Leicester (UK), Sherbrook Quebec (CAN), Cluj Napoca (ROU) and Salt Lake City Utah (US). Information and photos of the events can be found on the conference website.

The 6th ALAN Conference will take place from 16-18.06.2020 in Lleida (ES).


The conference series Light Pollution: Theory, Modeling, and Measurements (LPTMM) also started in 2013. It takes place biennially. More information and photos can be found on the conference website. The last LPTMM took place from 25.-28.06.2019 in Hungary.
