The blog of the Verlust der Nacht (Loss of the Night) app

27.08.2013 11:48

Communication and coordination between the app's users from around the world and the scientists!

Our intent for the Verlust der Nacht App blog is to allow communication and coordination between the app's users from around the world and the scientists who are behind the app's development.

The smartphone app evaluates sky brightness, also known as skyglow, on a worldwide scale. It is an extension to the “GLOBE at Night” citizen science project, which has been running since 2006. This data can be used to map the distribution and changes in sky brightness, and eventually allows scientists to investigate correlations with health, biodiversity, energy waste and other factors.
